Hello faithful readers,
This may be the final, or one of the last posts I make to this blog. Paradise Ridge Strata has decided to terminate my annual contract as Caretaker of Paradise Ridge. This decision comes as a shock and grieves me somewhat, as Paradise Ridge has been my home for four years and the Caretaker position has become one of lifestyle more than just employment. So, by request, I will be moving out of Paradise Ridge as of July 15 of this year. There are aspects of this job I will miss, and some I will not. All in all it has been a wonderful experience to take care of this building and its guests.
My entries on this blog have been enjoyable as well. I began it as a means of creative self expression, to inform whoever was interested in what I am up to and what is happening in this location.
This blog came under criticism by strata, as sometimes my honestly and opinion about situations wasn't in the best interest of marketing rentals and sales. I changed the way I wrote, so as not to convey anything unfavourable, but it stole away my ability to enjoy writing it and be creative with it. However, I do enjoy blogging, and I have been stoked to see the amount of people that have followed this blog!!! All this to say, I would like to start another blog, perhaps journaling my life's adventures from this point on. When I begin I will post my new blog address on here. If you are interested in the occasional read I would love it if you would follow.
Farewell friends
…and in the words of the famous hobbit Bilbo Baggins, "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve. ;)
Welcome,
Welcome owners/renters of Paradise Ridge and mountain enthusiasts. May this blog keep you informed of the current status and "going on's" of Paradise Ridge on Mt. Washington.
Thanks for stopping by, Enjoy!

Stir it up
Right now, the runs are turning from bullet proof ice to mid day slush. Lately that slush has been getting refroze at night, but tonight there is promise of powder, about 20cm worth. But get it while it's COLD, because the rest of the week is forecasted to be rain... Hopefully that changes.

LargoAdagio
Well, apparently, the anticipated storm is moving a little slower than expected...perhaps that means it will stay a little longer too. Yesterday was a mix bag of huge snowflakes one minute and blue skies and sunshine the next...some typical west coast weather for you. Today has been clear all day, but it looks as if the storm is moving in later tonight and dumping fresh pow all day Sunday.
So if you feel the tingles/sniffles coming on, Monday would be a good day to call in sick ;)
Paradise Ridge is busy this weekend and it seems that everyone is wearing a smile. The pool and hot tub are working great and have patrons soaking from open till close.
Next weekend the mountain hosts The After Dark Invitational, log onto the Mt.Washington website for details.

A Quickie
There is some snow falling right now, but it's pretty light....maybe about 5cm since last night. If it continues through the day and night, tomorrow could be a great day on the slopes. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny all day, with the major snow coming around Thursday, fingers crossed.
This coming Saturday, Mt.Washington hosts the After Dark Invitational. It is a big air competition, with both skiers and boarders throwing down their best moves. Visit Mt.Washington's web page if you want to find out more...

Pitter Patter
This morning the sun is shining bright although the sky is partly overcast. Temperatures up the mountain have been quite warm lately, which has made this February seem like late spring. Lately the snow has been slushy during the days, and usually freezing when the sun disappears at night. The little snow that fell recently has long since melted...as we wait for a storm to move in and bring back that fresh powder we have become accustomed to. What we are lacking in freshies we are making up for in vitamin D.
Paradise Ridge has been a busy place this month, with most everything running smoothly. The one exception was a problem with our hot tub boiler. The tub was cool for a couple days mid-week, but thanks to some efficient work by our plumbing contractors, it was hot and bubbling away by Friday night.
Well, thanks to early season snowfall, there is still plenty of snow to play in up Mt.Washington. And may I remind you of the Ozone Tube Park, that place is the most fun on icy nights...and mid -week there is virtually no line ups.
See ya soon

Holi-Daze
Here and Gone! The holi-daze are always a blur, but especially up Mt.Washington. The last day I remember taking note of was Christmas Eve, which I believed happened on a Tuesday. But the days of the week are of little consequence up here during the holidays. Words like Monday, Wednesday and Saturday are replaced with more significant titles; Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years or just The Snowy Day or that Super Snowy Day...Boxing Day doesn't really make the cut up here, I may be wrong, but it just gets enveloped into one of those in-between days suited for the slopes or some form of recovery....recovering from sore muscles from skiing, sledding or riding, or recovering from some turkey induced coma, or a strange hangover due to the high dairy content of multiple rum and egg nog's.
Paradise Ridge has been a busy busy place this season, we have been near full capacity the entire holidays. It has been a great couple weeks with few incidents. Some vehicles did get damaged due to snow avalanching off of the roof of our building. It is an unfortunate thing to occur and reinforces the need to mention the risk of parking anywhere alongside the building. Entire slabs can slide off the roof at any time and cause major damage or injury. It is important not to park or play too close to side of the building. There are a lot of signs around Paradise Ridge, they aren't for decoration, we know how unsightly too much signage can be. So, one more sign that was poorly obeyed...drum roll please...glass in the hot tub! From my perspective, it's a big one, so I mention it. If you break glass in or around the hot tub, a decent person will do their best to clean it up. However, I guarantee you wont get it all. The tub needs to be drained and vacuumed if this happens, otherwise people get cut...and no, not by the Caretaker, but by the missed shards of glass made invisible by the water. Glass of cool water, Corona bottle, a mickey...all bad news. But the great news is that there was no such incident this Christmas season. If you need to drink some cool water while in the tub, may I suggest Plastic, or for the BPA conscious, stainless steel.
The slopes have been busy, but the conditions have been excellent. Some heavy snowfall early on, continued dustings and lots of blue skies. Not too far off our 2010 record for most snowfall at resorts world wide. Wanna ride some pow...you know where to come, that awesome mountain in the middle of that island off the west coast of B.C. See ya soon
